Player Code of Conduct

This pledge is to encourage players  to be positive about their youth sports experience and accept responsibility for their actions by following this Players' Code of Conduct.

Player Code of Conduct Pledge

  • Have fun!
  • I will treat everyone, including coaches, parents, players and officials, with respect, regardless of race, creed, color, nationality or gender.
  • Be honest, fair, and always show good sportsmanship to all coaches, players, officials, parents and fans by demonstrating good sportsmanship at every practice and game win or lose.
  • I will show courtesy and respect to teammates, opponents and coaches.
  • Learn the value of commitment to the team. I will attend every practice and game that I can, and will notify my coach if I cannot.
  • I will focus on improving myself to help the team.
  • I will realize that athletic contests, including practice sessions are educational experiences and opportunities.
  • I will learn and play by the rules of the game and bring questions or concerns to my coach.
  • I will not engage in unsportsmanlike conduct, including but not limited to: “trash talking” my opponents, booing, taunting, refusing to shake hands, or using inappropriate language or gestures.
  • I will not engage in rude or bullying behavior on or off the court.

 

 

Parent Code of Conduct

The following Code of Conduct Pledge are aimed at parents being positive about their child’s youth sports experience and accept responsibility for their participation by following this Parents'  Code of Conduct.

Parent Code of Conduct Pledge

  1. I will remember that the game is for the kids - not the adults.
  2. I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and officials regardless of ability, race, sex, or creed at every practice, game, and tournament.
  3. As a parent/guardian, I will inform the coach of any physical, behavioral, disability or ailment that may affect the safety of my child or the safety of others.
  4. I will respect the rules of the game and the policies of the program.
  5. I will teach my child the rules of the game and how to resolve conflicts without hostility or violence.
  6. I will place team improvement and effort ahead of my personal desire to win.
  7. I expect a sports environment that is free from drugs, tobacco and alcohol and will refrain from their use at on-site practices and events.
  8. I will do my best to make sure that youth sports are a FUN and POSITIVE experience.
  9. I will treat other players, coaches, fans, volunteers and officials with respect.
  10. I will not berate the officials!
  11. I will not undermine the coaches' instructions or directions.
  12. I will not use profanity!
  13. I will communicate my concerns through the proper channels in a dignified manner.
    1. Discuss with the coach, outside of practice or game time.
    2. Contact your League or Traveling Coordinator, in writing.
    3. Contact a member of the RCYBA Board of Directors, in writing.

Anonymous or Verbal complaints are not given consideration.

By registering to play in the RCYBA program, the undersigned parent(s) or legal guardian(s), hereby pledge to follow the aforementioned Code of Conduct.

PENALTY

Any violation of the Code of Conduct may result in a temporary or permanent banishment from any RCYBA sponsored events.
